A safari holiday is super exciting and adventurous. However, unlike other vacations, there are a few points to look out for while booking a vacation into the Indian Jungles.

10 Important to Keep in Mind While Planning Your Safari Holiday

This is probably one of the most important things to keep in mind.  Since there are only a limited number of permits available  to enter the jungle and most lodges have few rooms, booking in advance is paramount

  2. Booking the correct zones
It is advisable to try and book zones in the park, that increase your chances of viewing wildlife.

  3. Do enough safaris during your stay
It is prudent to do as many safaris as you can during your holiday to maximize your probability of spotting elusive predators, like tigers, leopards & wild dogs.

  4. Choose a safari destination that suits you the best
Choosing a safari destination that meets your requirements is essential.  For e.g. there are certain parks that are great for birding there are others that are known for their rhinoceros etc.

  5. Rules of the Indian jungles
Every Indian jungle, has different policies.  It is therefore important to know, in advance the rules & regulations of the national park that you choose to visit.

  6. Number of people per drive
Most national parks allow a maximum of 6 people per car per drive.

  7. Choose the season that suits you the best
Different people prefer different seasons for safaris. Some may prefer winter over summer and vice versa.  Choose the season that works the best for you weather-wise.

  8. Seating arrangement for the safari drives
Most tiger reserves, will not allow you switch cars, once your names are booked in the permit.  It is therefore important to pre decide your seating arrangement so as to avoid any confusion during your holiday.

  9. Correct clothing
It is essential to check the weather and pack the correct clothing for your safari holiday.  Certain items like hats, caps, buffs, etc. must be carried in all seasons.  Also it is advisable to wear neutral colours, like beige, browns, greens in order to blend in with the forest.

  10. Flight / Train Connections
Since most tiger reserves are located at a distance from the closest airport / railway station, choosing the appropriate flight / train connections, is imperative while planning your safari schedule thus maximizing your time during your stay.
